English football's finest moment was witnessed in 1966 when Sir Alf Ramsey's 'wingless wonders' beat West Germany in the World Cup final at Wembley, with England winning 4-2 after extra time to claim the Jules Rimet Trophy and be crowned world champions for the first (and only) time in the country’s history.
No sporting event has ever come close to eclipsing the delirious celebrations that followed England's victory, and no one will ever forget the players who took to the field that day at Wembley.
This England 1966 World Cup final shirt commemorates what is still the greatest moment in English sporting history, and has been autographed by 9 of the team that were part of the famous victory. The decorated list of names who have signed the shirt includes Sir Geoff Hurst, who remains the only man to have scored a hat-trick in a World Cup final; Martin Peters, who put England 2-1 ahead in the last 15 minutes of regular time; Sir Bobby Charlton, who won the Ballon d’Or in the same year; as well as Nobby Stiles, Martin Peters, Jack Charlton, Ray Wilson, Roger Hunt, George Cohen, and the late Gordon Banks.
