MENTAL HEALTH UK

Mental Health UK supports people affected by mental health problems including friends, family and carers. Working across the UK, the charity brings together nearly 50 years of expertise from their four national founding partners to improve understanding and provide vital care.
Flora Bannerman passionately outlined a key mission of Mental Health UK; in that those working at the charity “won't stop until everyone has the tools they need to live their best possible lives.” This is achieved by delivering national and local services in conjunction with their four founding charities that enable and empower people to understand and manage their mental health.
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England, however more than half of adults and over two thirds of young people said that their mental health has deteriorated during the lockdown periods. The effects of social distancing, lockdown, over-consumption of media, separation and loss of loved ones to the virus have taken a huge toll on the nation’s mental health and wellbeing, and will continue to have lasting effects long after the restrictions end.
Flora explained the detrimental impact of the pandemic and labelled it “the biggest threat to the nation's mental health that many of us have experienced in our lifetimes.” However, over the past 12 months, Mental Health UK have been working hard to support people all across the UK, and Flora kindly remarked that the support of Raffolux players is so appreciated “at a time when people need us more than ever.”
Flora described how our partnership has gone “from strength to strength”, and thanks to Raffolux members choosing to support Mental Health UK, we have collectively raised a staggering £42,000.
This donation has allowed Mental Health UK to run their advice and information service in England for one month, providing 600 people with advice and information to manage their mental health. Flora added that “it has also allowed us to moderate our online community called Click, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for two months. Ensuring the site is a safe and welcoming online space for people to talk openly about their mental health.”
As ever, a huge thank you to all of our players because our charities win every time you play. Haven’t played yet but you’d like to get involved? Sign up to Raffolux today.
